This month on the Apparatus Architects, the hosts share what they consider to be the most important standards set by NFPA 1901, the emergency vehicle standard.
Listen as Tom Shand and Michael Wilbur discuss sealbelt monitors, vehicle data records, speed limiters, warning light systems and more. The two go back and forth on the impacts of the various features and how the standards can effect vehicles from department to department.
Tom talks about stepping surfaces that are being added to fire apparautus and gives the pros and cons on different system. They two also discuss aerial apparatus and how the placement of components and the color of the ladder can impact firefighter safety and proper positioning.
