A Washington firefighter was injured after he was pinned between a car and a parked police cruiser while evaluating a driver at an accident scene Saturday.
Bremerton crews responded to an incident involving a suspected impaired driver who had struck a parked car, the Kitsap Sun reports. As a firefighter reached into the vehicle to evaluate the driver, the car abruptly lurched in reverse, slamming into a parked squad car and pinning the firefighter.
He was taken to the hospital with a broken leg and had surgery to repair the injury Sunday, according to Kitsap. The 50-year-old firefighter has been with the department for about 20 years.
The incident is under investigation.
