Six years after Columbus firefighter Mark Foster removed a prayer flag from a burning Buddhist center, he placed it atop the new building.

Six years after Columbus firefighter Mark Foster rescued a symbolic prayer flag during a fire at a Buddhist Meditation Center, he was honored at the reopening of the facility.

Firefighters battled a fire at the Columbus KTC Buddhist Meditation Center in January 2016.

Members recognized Foster over the weekend and asked him to place the flag on top of the new building, according to NBC4i.com.

“It’s an honor to be part of it and just represent the fire department in a positive image of what we do,” Foster said. “We help people and it’s an honor to come and do this again years later.”
