The El Dorado, Kan., Fire Department's new Tower 1, built by Pierce Mfg., has Lumicoat in the black painted areas for reflectivity.

The El Dorado, Kan., Fire Department's new Tower 1, built by Pierce Mfg., has Lumicoat in the black painted areas for reflectivity and lighted boom panels for a unique look. The rear-mount 100-foot steel tower is built on a Pierce Velocity cab and chassis powered by a Detroit Diesel 500 hp engine. It's also has a Waterous 2,000-gpm pump and a 300-gallon water tank. Other features include a Harrison 10,000-watt hydraulic generator, Whelen warning lights, Fire Research Corp. scene lights and Zico wheel chocks.
