FF Battles PA Fire That Killed 10 Family Members

The overnight house fire in Nescopeck claimed firefighter Harold Baker's son, daughter, grandchildren and other family members.

Investigators spent Friday combing through the debris of a house fire that left 10 people, including three children, dead in the small community of Nescopeck.

The Pennsylvania State Police said the incident was a “complex criminal investigation,” according to PAHomepage.com.

A neighbor shared video with the television station which showed the home engulfed in flames before firefighters arrived.

According to WFMZ.com, one of the firefighters who responded to the tragic blaze, Harold Baker, later found out his family was among the victims, including his son, daughter, in-laws and grandchildren.

The victims ranged in age from 5 to 79 years old, with three victims being children and seven identified as adults.

Officials told PAHomepage that three people escaped from the burning home. 

"Firefighters attempted courageous efforts to gain entry into the house in the rear, but were pushed back from extensive flames and heat," State Police Lt. Derek Felsman told WFMZ.

A neighbor said they heard two gunshots shortly before they saw the burning home.

“I looked out of my one window there and I seen the house on the corner there was—boy the porch was totally engulfed," the told PAHomepage.
